Discovery Tools Futures
Resource Discovery tools to watch:
- Most ILSes have a "catalog" function, some of these might be able to be used seperately from the ILS, some not. The ILS Futures page has links to those tools.
- Mango/Solr/Lucene: FCLA is investigating the possibility of replacing Endeca with open source repository and indexing software.
- Blacklight. Research project by University of Virginia, using Ruby on Rails, SOLR and Lucene.
- VuFind. Developed by Villanova, using SOLR/Lucene.

- XC. eXtensible Catalog Project, the XC Project Team at the University of Rochester, together with XC Partner Institutions, will develop the XC software, a set of open-source applications to provide libraries with an alternative way to reveal their collections to library users. The website is the main vehicle for distributing the open-source software once it is released in 2009.
