Data Warehouse Order Format

During the last week of December 2006, changes were made for a new Order Number format in the Data Warehouse. Generally order numbers are system supplied but it is possible to type directly into the input box, overwriting the system-generated number. These non-conforming numbers will now be listed on your institutions' Data Warehouse Errors blog page.

In addition to the standard ADM DOC number plus Sequence number, we wanted to build in the option of using up to a 3 character prefix. For example, M200588-1 for monograph order numbers and S3468356-00101 for serial order numbers. Order Numbers are now stored in the Data Warehouse using the following format:

[Optional 3-character prefix] [DOC number] [dash] [Sequence Number]
For example, 600684-1 or OCO600684-1 (Leading zeros for Doc Number and Sequence are not used in the DW Orders Table)

Here are some examples of non-conforming order numbers:
DOC: 000615753 ORDER NUMBER: +
DOC: 000600684 ORDER NUMBER: P
DOC: 000628477 ORDER NUMBER: CGEN
