 | The first extraction and dataload of "QF" records from DLU01 to Endeca will begin on Friday, January 4, and the records will be available for review in Endeca on Monday, January 7. At the same time, these records will be excluded from the NOTIS QF extraction for Endeca.
Because there are some broader issues in integrating "QF" and DigiTool records into Endeca, FCLA is taking a gradual approach to transitioning between loading these records directly from NOTIS and loading them from Aleph's DLU01 library.
This first load will be performed as follows:
1. As with NOTIS QF records, the DLU01 records will be assigned "Library" fields for all eleven institutions so that they appear to "belong" to all institutions.
2. Similarly, for this load there will be no MARC view of the records.
3. The Endeca "System Number" field will contain the Aleph DLU01 library System Number.
4. No attempt will be made to merge DLU01 records with other Endeca records. None of the records currently loaded into DLU01 contain OCLC numbers.
Once the DLU01 records are loaded into Endeca, please consider the following questions:
1. Should PALMM Project be considered an Aleph sub-library code, for possible future use as an Endeca facet?
2. Are there other ways to manipulate DLU01 data to enable better retrieval in Endeca?
Any changes to DLU01 data based on these discussions would be executed via Aleph Global Updates.
