Overview of New Features in ALEPH V18 Circulation

• Patron info can be configured to only appear in Circ (not Acq)
• Fast Patron Registration
  • Implemented for most SULs (if desired)
  • Can define specific id type to be used for Additional ID in Fast Patron Registration form
• Can set the default address type (mailing or permanent) used when a patron registers
• IDs, PLIF - moving away from SSN
  • will need to work with Jennifer (FCLA) and campus IT dept. to coordinate
• Remote Registration
  • Jennifer setting up currently - available for next week (12/3/07)
  • Documentation will be available from the above page on our secure server (will require login to access)

• Workstation Identifier
• Open hours past midnight
• Open Hours interface - can set up for staff use in Test
• IP address or workstation id can be used to authorize a workstation to loan/return
• System can be configured to remove defined item processing statuses when item is circulated

• Advance Booking
  • Requires coordination with Endeca team
• System can be configured to use different request forms depending on item sublibrary, item status, item process status, logged-in borrower status, and/or item availability
  • This is for the Web OPAC; we would have to work with Endeca team to implement something similar there

• Payment method added - define in tables
• Partial payments / partial waives now possible
• Can now waive open Lost charges instead of generating credits
• Ability to adjust transferred charges
  • Table configuration change; would require coordinating with A/R

• Can now define for emails whether HTML attachments will be sent, or only plain text
• Printer Dispatch, aka Receipt Printing
• How to Email Reports

• Means it can be edited to meet local needs

  • FCLA in-house testing to be complete by January 2008

• Log needs to be regularly scrubbed as it contains historical circ data. This will need to be scheduled to run before moving to Prod.

• This is a big one! Will require coordination with ILL subcommittee.
